The Failure Resume
The Failure. The Lesson. What’s Next? Instead of the usual success resume or CV – instead it’s a super simple one pager with three columns

There are so many sayings about change. How it’s inevitable. That change is the only constant in life. If we don’t change, we don’t grow. Etc etc etc.
No matter how much you try, change periods are still tough. Even in scenarios where there are no layoffs, it’s difficult to quell people’s fear about the unknown. However, if you take the right approach to change management, focusing on open and honest communication, while also preparing yourself for the bumpy road ahead, you should be able to keep productivity at normal levels even as the organisation weathers significant change.
You can do this with any sort of change. You can also use language that reflects your belief around the sort of person you want to be.. “I am so the sort of person who drinks a lot of coffee, and so takes a keep cup wherever I can.”
Sometimes, we can be focussed on the end result – that we forget that for those that are not intimately involved in the process, that they may not see what we think they are seeing. They don’t necessarily see the end result or get the “why”.
Often when we think of changing something significant, we think in terms of big bold goals (remember that saying – big, hairy, audacious goal?).. However
What would they want to know that would ease concern over a change, or angst over some gossip that’s doing the rounds?
It’s no longer a matter of thinking “if we can just get through this period of x”, it will all be ok, and we will go back to life as usual. Change is the new usual. And it’s not going to go away.
This is where a man and a woman undertake the SAME job and do NOT receive the same remuneration. This is the area where many of the ranting Linkedin posts occur: “I get paid the same as the women I work with”.
There is a significant body of research on this.. it works! The being clear on your goals/dreams, the public accountability and most importantly – the acknowledgement and celebration of the journey and progress.
